What I love about Lyon is that it has some wonderful
presentations of the many époques it has as its history. From Gaelic and Roman times to nowadays, it
is easy to see all these different phases in this city’s life cycle, and it is
breathtaking.
We are lucky enough to have my step-son, who is a teacher, living there.
He took us on a tour to show us this aspect of Lyon, the ancient, old,
new, and modern. I recommend him if you’d like to see Lyon!
First, a story about the Musée des Confluences...The Romans looked at building a fort here, in the confluence of the two rivers, Le Rhône and La Saône but they didn't because of the high water table. When the City of Lyon started to build this museum, they had to re-do the footers six (yes 6) times, because it kept sinking. In one of the films below they talk about the construction going over budget. Ha ha ha. But they don't tell you why. This is why. Talk about learning the hard way. What's really funny is in the video, the song keeps saying over and over and over "Do it right, Do it right!"
I will let the videos and photos speak for Lyon now.
